How it works

From enquiry
to dispatch.

Four phases to an order. Ten stages to an instrument.

Your order

Four phases.

Send your specification
  1. 01

    Specify

You send products, quantities, branding, packaging and destination. We confirm feasibility, minimum quantity, lead time and cost.

    Moves on when: Quotation accepted

  2. 02

    Sample

You approve the written specification and supply artwork. We produce a sample to it and submit it for review.

    Moves on when: Sample approved

  3. 03

    Produce

You release the order against the approved sample. Production is inspected between operations against that reference.

Moves on when: Batch passes final inspection

  4. 04

    Pack and ship

You confirm packing format, labelling and forwarder. We pack to your artwork and prepare export documents.

Moves on when: Released to your forwarder

The instrument

Ten stages, five chapters.

01Define

The specification that everything downstream is measured against.

  1. Product development

    Managed by Drogé

A physical sample or drawing is translated into a working specification covering geometry, dimensions, finish and marking. The approved specification directs production.

02Form

Where the instrument gets its shape, and most of its skilled labour.

  1. Cutting & forming

    Manufacturing partner

Stock is cut to length and formed to the instrument profile. Shank angles and offsets are set here, and they determine how closely the finished tip follows the reference.

  2. Grinding

    Manufacturing partner

The working end is ground to its final profile. On a curette or scaler this operation defines the cutting edge.

  3. Tip formation

    Manufacturing partner

Fine geometries — explorer hooks, probe tapers, burnisher balls — are formed and dressed. Critical geometry is checked against the approved sample.

03Temper

Bringing the instrument to its working hardness.

  1. Heat treatment

    Confirmed per order

Hardening and tempering bring the instrument to working hardness. Hardness requirements are confirmed for each product during sampling.

04Finish

Surface, handle and marking — everything the buyer sees and holds.

  1. Surface finishing & polishing

    Manufacturing partner

Satin, mirror-polish, colour-coated and plated finishes. The finish level is agreed at sampling, where you can see and approve it.

  2. Handle assembly

    Manufacturing partner

Working ends are assembled to hollow or solid handles in the specified knurl or flute pattern. Handle diameter and weight are recorded in the product specification.

  3. Laser marking

    Confirmed per order

Brand name, product code, tip identification and country-of-origin marking. Position, size and depth are set from your artwork and proofed on a sample before the run.

05Verify & pack

Checked against the approved sample, then packed to your artwork.

  1. Inspection

Partner process — control confirmed per order

Dimensional and functional checks are carried out against the written specification and approved sample.

  2. Packaging

    Manufacturing partner

Bulk, pouched, cased, cassette-mounted or retail-ready packaging is produced to the approved requirements. Quantities, set contents, marking, labels, barcodes and packaging are checked before release.

The through-line

One reference throughout.

The sample you approve is the same reference used to run production, inspect the batch and fill your next order.

  1. Written specification
  2. Approved sample
  3. Production reference
  4. Final inspection
  5. Repeat order
